In Rolling Stone Magazine’s extensive new feature on the gun violence epidemic in the United States, Kristen Gwynne recalls the details of just a few of the many deadly school shootings that have occurred since 2000. “That a full list is too long to include here is, in itself, a profoundly powerful argument for stricter gun control laws,” writes Gwynne.

One shooting in particular—the 2006 shooting at the Amish Schoolhouse in which a truck driver shot ten girls and killed five, before taking his own life—hits very close to home for Pennsylvanians. But, as the list reveals, every state, region and corner of the country has been shaken by the tragedy of gun violence on school campuses.
