The shooting resulted in the deaths of Emilio Hoffman, a fellow freshman, and Padgett himself, who turned his gun on himself after a confrontation with police. A gym teacher, Todd Rispler, was grazed by gunfire, but successfully made it to the school office to warn administrators and initiate a lockdown.
