According to the latest University of Michigan C.S. Mott Children’s Hospital National Poll on Children’s Health, gun violence has become a top concern for the first time in the survey’s history. School safety was #5 on this year’s national survey, while gun-related injuries ranked at #9.

The survey features two lists—one for children’s health issues within their communities, and one nationwide.

Matthew M. Davis, M.D., M.A.P.P., and director of the poll, “said the survey shows a strong link between many of the top ten child health concerns to health behaviors of children and their families,” writes Mary Masson.
