One year ago, we woke to the news of the worst mass shooting in modern American history — 49 killed at the Pulse Night Club in Orlando. Today, all over the nation, the anniversary is being marked — in life-affirming celebrations and parties, demonstrating that love conquers hate.
But we need more than parties and slogans — we need better policies, stronger laws, and real will and courage to make America safer. Senator Casey has introduced a bill to prohibit those convicted of hate crimes from purchasing firearms. We need laws like this, and comprehensive background checks and tough punishments for traffickers, to keep guns out of the hands of those who should not have them.
Taking a stand against gun violence means we must Disarm Hate. Thank you for standing with us.
