This legislation would further endanger the public as Pennsylvania firearm sales edge towards the 1 million mark for 2020 and gun deaths rise rapidly. In a statement issued soon after the bill passed, CeaseFire Pennsylvania’s Executive Director Adam Garber urged Governor Wolf to immediately veto the legislation.
House Bill 2440 would prevent the closure of any gun-related business–whether we are in “normal” times or a national emergency like the current pandemic–for any reason, including failure to get appropriate insurance, meet legal business requirements, or ignore existing gun safety laws such as background check requirements.
